This book written in 1912 give the history of the school from ancient time up to 1912. There are lists of Head Masters, Ushers, Second and Assistant Masters, Scholars and fellows of St John's College, Oxford. Black and white illustrations, Robert Thorne Founder, Nicholas Thorne, Thorne coat of arms, Thorne family tree, School Charter 1532, Old Grammar School, Unity Street, - Plan of, Plan of the School, 1912.

There are lists of the number of boys attending each year from 1848 to 1912.

This book does not list the names of the boys attending. However many names of masters etc. are to be found and to make this useable the names are to be found in the index reproduced below.
